I’m sitting here writing to you with a head full of food! Now that may sound like an odd way to start a news story but hear me out! Our facebook team have been researching Perth Restaurants and over the past week have posted each day on a different venue. I have to tell you, we really are spoiled in Perth and its surrounding areas with all the fantastic eateries we have. From tearooms and cafes to award winning restaurants, Perthshire has it all.
Did you know for instance that Scotland’s only Two Michelin starred restaurant, Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles recently came first in The Sunday Times Food List? The list ranks Britain's top 100 restaurants strictly by the quality of their food, and is compiled from marks and comments from real diners. And he’s practically on our doorstep!
If you’re more a pizza person then you must try or local Creperie and Pizza house, Breizh. I’m giving it a special mention as my children adore their wood burning oven baked Pizzas. Situated in town just five minutes walk away, you can sit in and soak up the French themed bistro or order it as takeaway and it’ll still be piping hot when you get back to the apartment! I can’t emphasise enough that you must leave room for the CREPES… Chocolate, lemon, apple. Heavenly! Check out our facebook page for the full list of recommendations…. We’ll be doing more again soon!
From food to fitness! I have signed up to do a triathlon this year… EEK! You’ve probably seen our various photographs of North Inch Park; all of the apartments overlook this beautiful, green space. It is bordered by the River Tay and lined by trees – a much-loved and well used parkland.
My son plays rugby there on Sundays, the cricket pavilion has it home here and the golf course starts in its centre. Little did I know that amongst all of those happy families – you know, enjoying bike rides, walks and loud shrieks on the swings - was also a group of people I have found myself part of. BOOTCAMPERS! When you come to stay and spot a bright red woman (tomato coloured you understand) fighting for breath, staggering up the North Inch pathway… that’s me! If this type of fitness is your thing then do let us know and I’ll ensure you’re on the guestlist. Otherwise, take advantage of our family card and go for a game of badminton or table tennis at Bells Sports Centre just a 5 minute walk away!
All of this talk of food and exercise has left me hungry – I’m off to borrow one of the Alexander Residence restaurant loyalty cards! Now the only question is French, Italian or good old fish and chips?
Hope to see you with us soon,
Pauline and the AR Team
