I don’t know about other parts of the country but we’ve been enjoying some gorgeous spring weather here in Perth over the last week. Blue skies, mild weather and not a raindrop in sight! I was out walking around North Inch Park, which is just on our doorstep at Alexander Residence, and noticed the first purple and yellow of the crocuses peering up from the grass. Our local Perthshire In Bloom team is amazingly hard working and the Inch bursts into colour over the next month with Daffodils and Crocuses everywhere you look! I am armed with a camera to get posting on facebook as soon as they appear!
I’m off home this weekend down to Manchester to see my mum. I love Perth but it’s always nice getting back, chatting to old friends and visiting my favourite bars and restaurants. Being a tourist in your own city is a bit odd to start with – when I took my fiancée down for the first time he wanted to do all the “sights” that I just take for granted. It was really strange for me – I suddenly realised I’d lived in this great city for 20 odd years and had never properly explored what was on my doorstep!
Only last week I was welcoming some “local” guests to the Ericht apartment and we had a very similar conversation. Dad was from Perth and they were visiting with their young children. As the family had grown and spread – all of his brothers were now married with kids - there just wasn’t enough room for mum, dad, kids and all the accompanying suitcases, toys, welly boots and golf clubs! “It’s like an expedition now!” Mum joked. They were planning to take the kids to Perth Museum and dad was keen for a whirl down the flumes at Perth Leisure Pool – just for old time’s sake! It did make me think… and I rushed home to pack my swimming costume for my own trip down nostalgia lane! ;-) We often have people from the area using the apartments for exactly this reason. Often family weddings or parties where there are a lot of people descending in all at once. I love welcoming them back for the few days; it always makes me think of home!
Of course, I’m planning to take my mum out and spoil her for Mother’s Day while I’m down! Its only once a year and she deserves the treat! I’m wishing I could magically whisk Nadia, our AR therapist, down to give her the massage and manicure package that Mums visiting AR are being treated to over March (check it out here).
Maybe next year I’ll bring her North and take her to my new local attractions!
Have a great week,
We’ll see you very soon,
