I missed posting my news last week and if I’m being honest it’s because I was so busy eating chocolate eggs and enjoying all the fabulous Easter Fun in Perthshire! The Easter Weekend activities may be over but I’m amazed at everything there is to offer in Perthshire at this time of year – it’s like the clocks have gone forward and everyone came out to play! There are lots of wonderful events and activities for families visiting over April – most have been designed to keep the kids amused during the School Holidays but if you are child-free (like me!) you’ll still find plenty to do.
Blair Atholl Castle is only a 40 minute drive from Perth City Centre and their Easter Holiday Detective Trail looks like it’s going to be great fun! : http://www.atholl-estates.co.uk/event-detail.cfm/event_ID/622/title/Easter%20Trails. Or, click onto Perth Leisure Pool website and download a Family Swim voucher to entitle you to two adults and up to 3 children or seniors for only £10. Their programme of activity has loads to do for the kids and they run it throughout April for visiting families to enjoy. Download the brochure here! http://www.liveactive.co.uk/easter-fun.
Kinnoull Hill is one of Perth’s most beautiful walks – it’s only a short distance from Alexander Residence Apartments and enjoys the enviable Green Flag status. Looked after by the Forestry Commission Scotland this is one of my favourite walks in Perth – I love it. Brisk, uphill and the most AMAZING views from the top – I rolled my hard-boiled egg down here on Sunday actually!
If you do like to get out and about then why not hire bikes and get cycling! Or bring them with you – there’s plenty of room in the basement and it’s a great drying room for wet clothes (NOT that we want it to rain!). The North Inch Park, overlooked by AR, is part of Perth’s cycle network and offers short routes that are great for less experienced cyclists or people like me who are trying to cram lots of things into one day! For all you enthusiasts, follow route 77 and you can spend all day cycling up to Highland Perthshire. The scenery is amongst the best in Scotland – truly beautiful! Pack a picnic, stop at Dunkeld for scones and tea and finish in Pitlochry for a Fish Supper from The Plaice To Be! Eating and Cycling – sounds like a perfect day out!
One April event I’m going to make sure to take in is the re-opening of the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy. This amazing old cinema closed its doors in the 1980s and is about to reopen with a programme of screenings featuring big Hollywood releases; some fantastic live opera, ballet and orchestral performances along with some new and exciting things like interactive exhibitions from the British Museum and further abroad. There’s a Golden Ticket Giveaway going on at the moment - local retailers are handing out scratch cards with 200 of them revealing a Golden Ticket Code for a special screening on April 19th. So exciting! I feel like just like Charlie; and believe me I’ve eaten almost as much chocolate! http://www.birkscinemafriends.org.uk/
Why not take advantage of our APRIL mid-week late availability and enjoy all that Perthshire has to offer at this time of year? Click onto the booking page and you’ll apartments from as little as £120 per night – for four people! That’s only £30 per person per night. Bump it up to 3 nights and you’ll go as a group of 4 for only £300. Some fabulous offers folks – don’t miss out!
