I’ve been busy planning 2014 this week! This is a huge year for Scottish Tourism with the commonwealth games in Glasgow and The Ryder Cup right here in Perthshire. It is all so thrilling – a very exciting time to be an accommodation provider in Scotland!
The Ryder Cup especially is very close to our hearts. To have such a prestigious sporting event happen right on your doorstep is an honour for us all. Host, Gleneagles, is a short 20 minute drive away from Alexander Residence and as Perth City Centre’s only 5-star accommodation provider we are thrilled to be offering Ryder Cup Packages that offer luxury, comfort, ease of access and the flexibility that comes with self-catering. (Although we must admit, travel time is likely to be longer at Ryder Cup time!). What's more, with McDiarmond Park being one of three park and ride entry points to the event itself means you are within a short 10 minute drive to the event entry point!
We have specially built secure basement storage units where you can store your prized golf clubs for ease of access throughout your stay which we are happy to provide for your use, we do everything we can to ensure your every requirement is catered for!
Throughout the year we have many golfers using Alexander Residence as their base; Gleaneagles is, of course, a huge draw and if you’ve travelled to Perthshire it is sure to be on your list of clubs to play. The stunning location plays host to three championship level courses, a nine-hole par 3 course and also has a pitch and putt and practice area. The PGA Centenary Course that the Ryder Cup will be played out on is available to all; created by Jack Nicklaus the course offers “tantalising” challenges for all levels of player.
Gleneagles and its fame aside, you will find other outstanding courses here in Perthshire. We have 38 courses including the world class Gleneagles, offering everything from parkland settings to challenging Highland layouts and heathland courses. Golfers from all over the world flock to our area to play a few rounds and enjoy being in Scotland. One such club is Blairgowrie Golf Club, host to the Junior Ryder Cup.
Blairgowrie boasts a further two championship golf courses; The Lansdowne championship course, host of major PGA and SGU events and The Rosemount Course, venue of Greg Normans first European tour victory are both world class courses enjoyed by members and visitors alike. The Junior Ryder Cup will be played on the Rosemount Course and is set to be a thrilling showcase for some of the young talent coming up through the sport.
